God's Holy Acre
The Memorial Garden
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind...
In faith that looks throught death,
In years that bring the philosophic mind.
William Wordsworth (1770-1850)
God's Holy Acre has been created at St. James' Anglican Church for the growing number of people choosing cremation for themselves or for their loved ones. This quiet memorial garden can also be used to commemorate the lives of departed family and friends whose remains are buried elsewhere. This tranquil site on St. James' hill provides a sancturary where family and friends can reflect in peace and serenity when honouring the memory of their loved ones.
God's Holy Acre is open to all who wish to use it. Arrangements can be made throught the church for the service of committal; and ashes will be deposited directly into the earth in the garden. An appropriate engraved memorial marker will be placed in the garden along the south wall of the church. A fee of $400 incorporates the cost of engraving the memorial marker, as well as an allotment for the perpetual care and future development of the garden. Memorial markers will be engraved twice a year. There is also a $60 Verger's fee for preparation of the ground. A tax receipt for $ 250 will be issued upon request.

Behold, I show you a mystery;
We shall not sleep, but shall be all changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trump;
for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
